About

Lilly Burton is a pro-choice powerhouse of performance art. Taking her slingshot at no-go social constructs with a mash-up of autobiographical storytelling, comedy, and original song writing; plus, some dance moves too – duh!

Lilly is a graduate from the East 15 Acting and Contemporary Theatre course. She is trained in clown (don’t cringe or vom coz she’s actually really funny, okay?!), this has led Lilly to work in lots of café and restaurants across London and around the UK. She is also a member of the acclaimed Soho Young Company, at the Soho Theatre (HA, so there! Other people think the clowning training was worth it).

Lilly has worked with artists such as Bryony Kimmings, on the R&D of “I’m a Phoenix Bitch” at Battersea Art Centre, London, Matilida Ibini, on the R&D of “Little Miss Burden” at The Bush Theatre, London and has collaborated with Bruised Sky Productions Producing “NOF*CKSGIVEN” by playwright Daisy King at The Kings Head Theatre, London 2018 and Vault Festival, London 2019.

My Manifesto

What? Why you doin’ a manifesto- who do you think you are, are setting yourself up to be a disappointing politician? NO! I’m (Lilly) is trying to be a legit cool creative so shut up and listen (please, thank you)

“This is a declaration…” LOL no, that is not how this starts. Lilly is just going to bullet point some things she wants to hold herself accountable to as an artist and if Lilly forgets why she is in “showbiz kid” (coz she is such a mega star) she can go onto her website and try to remember what she told you all… isn’t that what everyone else does?

continued

  • Brush your teeth every day
  • Remember to take off your make up even if you’re really drunk
  • Don’t sleep with everyone who says you are a great performer
  • Avoid telling people what your intentions are as an artist because you will make what you make and YOU will bloody well just like it, alright?!
  • Nah, make work that matters and “all that” so you can get funding more easily – idiot!
  • Never forget or ignore or distance yourself from other fellow artists who have been nice and encouraging to you just coz you think your soooo fly! (yeah, I’m looking at all the artists who have done that to me, you’re TERRID)
  • BE KIND
  • Don’t drink with everyone who says you are a great performer and then sleep with them anyway, even though you just said you wouldn’t
